ACI Continues Its Investigation of Illegal Street Animal Sales in Downtown LA

The LAPD's recent arrests for illegal street vending of animals has slowed, but not stopped the criminals profiting off these sick and cruelly treated baby animals. ACI was back on the streets of downtown Los Angeles on Easter Sunday monitoring and gathering more crucial evidence that can put a final stop to these illegal activities. We found that the criminals that we identified and provided to the LAPD were off the streets, but other members of their ring were out there still selling. It's obvious we need to send a stronger message.

Although we can't share it with you just yet, ACI has gathered further critical information that we will continue to build on. We will not rest and we won't walk away from putting pressure on these criminals so that they are prosecuted and no longer profiting off this business. What's critical to putting a stop to them is finding and targeting the source where they breed they animals. This may take ACI all the way across the border, but that won't stop us. The sickly baby bunnies, baby turtles piled on top of each other, and the puppies and kittens sold out of cars need us too badly.

Currently the street vendors are facing fines and misdemeanor charges, ACI wants to go further and gather the evidence to seek felony animal cruelty. A charge that we are sure will put real pressure on these animal abusers and make their activities much less profitable. This is what makes ACI so different. We can investigate, gather evidence, and bring to prosecution. Our goal is to put a stop to the suffering of baby animals in downtown Los Angeles. These sales have been going on illegally for over ten years and the LAPD just doesn't have the resources to fight it, but that's where ACI comes in. We will make our humane officers available because there is no reason why this black market, which is profiting off the backs of these poor creatures, should even exist.
